Which ratings are in focus?
Currently, there are over 400 ESG ratings worldwide – but not all are equally important. The largest ESG rating agencies with a broad approach and high acceptance among investors include ISS ESG, MSCI ESG and Sustainalytics. But if needed, we can also dive into specialized ESG ratings such as CDP’s environmental rating or EcoVadis’ supply chain rating.
CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) is a global disclosure platform for environmental information related to climate, water, and forests. Companies report their data, which is then assessed and published.
The results create transparency for investors, customers, and other stakeholders.

EcoVadis is a globally established platform for evaluating companies’ sustainability performance across environmental, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement topics.
The assessment is conducted through a structured scorecard and is widely used by companies to create transparency within their supply chains.

The MSCI ESG Rating evaluates companies based on their ESG risks and opportunities compared with industry peers.
Ratings are assigned on a scale from AAA to CCC and are widely used by investors for sustainable investment decisions.

ISS ESG evaluates companies based on a wide range of ESG indicators across the environmental, social, and governance dimensions.
The results support investors in assessing sustainability risks and performance.

The Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating measures a company’s exposure to ESG risks and how effectively these risks are managed.
Scores range from “Negligible Risk” to “Severe Risk”.

The S&P Global ESG Score evaluates companies’ sustainability performance based on the annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). Numerous ESG criteria across environmental, social, and governance areas are analyzed.
Scores range from 0 to 100 and allow companies to be compared with peers within their industry.
Important: The assessment is based on company data from the CSA as well as publicly available information.
